For me, the new year is all about letting go of the past, setting intentions for the future, starting fresh, and taking concrete steps to be the best I can be and to create the life I want. I’m a firm believer in setting the stage for success so I always make sure my goals are realistic, specific and concrete. I also often set due dates for my goals and write them down to increase the likelihood that I’ll follow through. Some of my goals for 2018 include: Getting outside more (walking Roux in the park 3x/week), reestablishing a daily yoga practice (getting on my mat for at least an hour each day and breaking a sweat), living out my values (sticking to our budget and spending money only on those things that truly bring me joy), hiring a brand manager to help me grow my business and be more effective in spreading my message, buying property somewhere rural and selling our house in Seattle, and nurturing an environment of self-compassion in my life and work instead of insecurity and judgement. Cranberry Spritz 

Serves 3


1 cup whole, fresh cranberries

2 sprigs of rosemary

2 strips of orange peel

1/2 cup water

1 teaspoon honey

2 tablespoons pomegranate juice

12 ounces ginger ale (I like Reeds and Q)


Combine the cranberries, rosemary, orange peel, and water in a small pot and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until the cranberries are soft. Mash the cranberries with the back of a wooden spoon then strain through a fine mesh sieve discarding the pulp. Stir in the honey and pomegranate juice.

Add 3 tablespoons of the cranberry syrup to each glass, top with 4 ounces of ginger ale and ice. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and enjoy!
