I leave for Australia in just a few days. I’m busy packing and compiling an enormous list of restaurants to check out. If you have any recommendations I’d love to hear them. I’ll be doing a workshop with Luisa Brimble and Marta Greber for the first few days, then I’ll be traveling around with my mom and meeting up with Anders on the weekends. He’ll be studying with some famous architect on a farm somewhere the whole time. But mom and I are excited to see the sites, explore the coast and hang out.
This recipe was inspired by a dish I had at Bollywood Theatre in Portland a few weeks ago. It’s super simple and packed with flavor. The cauliflower is crispy on the outside and creamy inside and is smothered in rich roasted red chili paste, spicy sriracha and sour lime juice. Enjoy and keep up with my adventures abroad by following me on instagram.
FRIED CAULIFLOWER WITH ROASTED RED CHILI PASTE

1 head cauliflower, trimmed and cut into florets
3 tablespoons roasted red chili paste
1 tablespoon sriracha

cilantro
PROCEDURE
Heat the coconut oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the curry leaves and fry for a few seconds until aromatic. Add the cauliflower and cook, stirring ocasionaly until the cauliflower is golden, crispy and cooked through. In a small bowl, whisk together the red chili paste, sriracha and lime juice. Once the cauliflower is cooked add the sauce to the pan and continue cooking, tossing the cauliflower until coated and sticky. Serve the cauliflower topped with a handful of chopped cilantro.
Your trip to AUS sound incredible Sasha! Oh my goodness, you lucky duck! Cannot wait to follow along in Insta. And this cauliflower dish is so simply perfect, what a brilliant combination of flavors. Super gorgeous as well friend <3
Thank you! You’re the best!
Love the simplicity of the ingredients in this one — sounds like a rather divine combination! I was in Sydney over Christmas/NY’s…try to grab brunch at the grounds of alexandria, take away malaysian food from kopitiam cafe and grab a cocktail at one of the many “hidden” bars — the havana themed lobo plantation was my fave! Have a great trip!
Thanks so much! The Grounds of Alexandria was soooo fun!
Looks so yummy, and as a recent convert to roasted cauliflower, a recipe I am going to make. Have a great time in Australia. I live in Brisbane and it is a fabulous city with so many good places to eat, and great coffee almost everywhere. I work at the State Library in our cultural precinct, and if you are a gallery, museum trype of person, I’d be happy to meet up and take you for a coffee. margaret
Love your photos Sasha. Sad news about Gary.
Thank you so much! That’s so sweet of you to offer. I don’t think we’ll be in Brisbane but we’re having fun exploring some museums in Sydney and Melbourne.
