Yipee! I don’t know Tara, but have heard others sing her praises and had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of her new book. I immediately made a cup of tea and curled up on the couch to read the book (yes, I read cookbooks).

Seven Spoons Glazed Sesame Oats || TENDING the TABLEThis recipe for glazed sesame oats is the first recipe I made. It is simple, but perfect, because sometimes simple is best. Not too sweet with just the right amount of crunch. I can’t wait to continue cooking from the book.


From Seven Spoons

Makes 2 cups


2 tablespoons maple syrup

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tablespoons water

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

2 1/2 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup chopped almonds

1/4 cup sesame seeds


Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment. In a large bowl, stir together the maple syrup, brown sugar, olive oil, water and salt. Fold the oats, almonds and sesame seeds into the syrup mixture until coated. Spread onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the oats are golden and lightly toasted. Cool on the baking sheet and serve or transfer to an airtight container for later use.
